Are we getting the remastered version we all deserve?
Amidst the number of Air Jordan 4s that have been dropping here and there as of late, only two out of the four OG colorways have released with the Nike Air treatment: the Breds from 2019, and the Cements from 2016. The former earned praise for being close to the OG not just with the Nike Air logo, but also with the overall shape and construction of the sneaker.
Even more important is that with this new development, this will be the first time Jordan brand will be retroing the Fire Red Air Jordan 4 with the original Nike Air branding. The previous two Fire Red retros—the 2006 Mars Blackmon with the Spike Lee branding on the lateral side and the 2012 retro during the silhouette’s 23rd anniversary—came with Jumpman branding on the heel, insole, and outsole.
As someone who has owned both the 2012 and 2019 versions of the Bred 4s, I agree that the 2019 versions have better quality and remained faithful to the 1989 OGs (or at the very least, the 1999 retros). With reports of the Fire Reds getting the same treatment this year, I hope Jordan brand fulfills at least two out of the three wishes I had for the Bred 4s last year.
For those waiting for this release, the OG Fire Red 4s will reportedly drop on Black Friday for $200(~Php 10.2k).
