Chinese sneaker brand 361 Degrees is riding on the Gundam theme. After we saw a RX-78-2-themed running sneaker last week comes two basketball sneakers inspired by the RX-78-2 and MS-06 Zaku II.

The RX-78-2-themed basketball sneaker sports a bootie-like cut with a mesh upper layered with suede, leather, and TPU panels. Its chunky midsole reminds us of adidas’ Bounce-equipped basketball sneakers, while the red mid-foot support—which reminds us of Puma’s RS-X sneaker—comes with Gundam branding.

On the other hand, the MS-06 Zaku II-inspired basketball sneaker has a more aggressive look with its slip-on design, forefoot and mid-foot straps, and a side-zip closure. The upper is primarily made of mesh with nubuck and heat-welded panels on the toe and heel and reminds us of Nike’s strange-looking Air Max 720 Saturn. Completing the look is a chunky sculpted midsole.

Like the RX-78-2-inspired running sneakers, the RX-78-2-themed basketball sneaker has an affordable CNY 469(~Php 3.6k) price. The RX-78-2-themed basketball sneaker purchased at 361 Degrees’ web store, and there are two other colorways to choose from as well.
