We are not gonna lie: Puma has been dropping some serious heat these past few months with the various RS-0 and RS-100 collabs and the Thunder Spectra. Sole Academy has dropped a few RS-0 and RS-100 collabs like the Roland 808 and the Polaroid, and it was a matter of time before the Thunder Spectra arrives at our shores.
As we said several months ago, the Thunder Spectra is an interesting new silhouette as it is a chunky dad shoe with great color blocking. Aside from that, it pays homage to Puma’s roots—specifically its collaboration with Alexander McQueen. Back in 2014, the Puma x McQ produced luxury sports sneakers like the Tech Runner—the silhouette where the Thunder Spectra was based on.
The Tech Runner’s design characteristics—oversized midsoles and multilayered uppers—became the inspiration for high fashion sneakers from Gucci, Balenciaga, and Louis Vuitton. The difference between those and Puma’s is that the latter has a price point that is accessible to more sneakerheads.
With the Thunder Spectra being official locally,
The Thunder Spectra is available at The Sneak Peek, Commonwealth PH, Sole Academy, and Puma Select on December 22 for Php 6,630.
