They are more than just a clean pair of kicks
In time for the holidays, Commonwealth got fellow sneakerheads abuzz when they announced their collaboration with adidas through the sneaker brand’s Consortium program. This weekend, Commonwealth made their collaboration pair of the ZX 500 RM available to the public. If you have yet copped a pair, here are a few reasons why they should be part of your rotation:
adidas is known for its Consortium collabs with retailers and streetwear brands, and teaming up with Commonwealth solidifies the boutique’s reputation. While it is their first collab, the guys at Commonwealth worked hard for years like it is their first and last collab with adidas. The result? A clean reimagination of the legacy ZX 500 silhouette, updated with Boost tech.
In Carlo’s chat with Omar Quiambao, he shared that their design inspiration is tropical living, giving reference to Commonwealth’s stores in Virginia, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Manila. As for the color accents (in the stripes, heel tab, and the laces that go with the pair), they have drawn inspiration from the Tubbataha Reef–a protected marine area along Sulu sea that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
If you don’t have time to visit Commonwealth PH’s stores in SM Aura, Greenbelt 5, and Rockwell, you can purchase the adidas X Commonwealth ZX 500 RM online via their microsite. There are several good sizes still available, and you can have them shipped at your home for that added convenience. This makes them one of the most accessible adidas Consortium pairs to date.
The adidas X Commonwealth ZX 500 RM retails for Php 9,300.
