Not your typical Air Force 1

A pair of Air Force 1s is a must-have for any sneaker enthusiast, and it was about time that I copped a pair. The last time I was wearing Air Force 1s was back in college when I had the triple white mids and the gray Futura highs. Fast forward to today, I copped this rather uncommon pair—the Air Force 1 “Hong Kong”—during Urban Affair 2.

What makes them special? Aside from not being released locally, they are a reissue of the 2001 OG version. Back then, Nike gave the Air Force 1s a creative spin with the “B” series. This collection incorporated different design cues and made them exclusive for specific countries—giving it a limited edition appeal. Such an approach made sneakerheads go the extra mile in finding these pairs in specific countries.

For this pair, which was then exclusive to Hong Kong, Nike went for a forest green color—a color that was yet to be used on the Air Force 1, and an embroidered Swoosh on both lateral and medial sides. Completing the simplistic luxe look on them are burgundy laces, a burgundy sock liner, and a bright orange insole.

With its unique design, it is not surprising why the “Hong Kong” Air Force 1s ranked number 8 in Complex’s Best Nike Air Force 1s list back in 2016. Is it worth hunting for this pair? For me, it is a resounding yes especially since this model debuted at one of the best Air Force 1 eras to date.
