And it is designed by a Pinoy artist!

When it comes to watches, Casio’s G-Shock is one of the favorite timepieces of Filipinos. Aside from its affordable price, a G-Shock is a toughie like every Pinoy: It can handles drops, shocks, and get soaked in water without any problem.

Because of the likeness between the two, Casio held a Design the National G-Shock contest last January to challenge participants to design the most Pinoy G-Shock strap. Out of 1,200 participants, Dylan Dylanco’s design emerged as the winner.

Dylanco with Casio Computer Co. International Sales for Timepiece Overseas Marketing and Sales Division Manager Masaki Obu during the unveiling.

Called “Habi”, Dylanco’s design is inspired by old weaving techniques of our ancestors—from the northern Ifugaos to the southern tribes of the Moros. The weave-inspired design is dressed in bright red, white, and, black, and sports elements of the Philippine flag.

“I hope that my design will remind Filipinos of the Philippines, no matter where they are,” Dylanco said.

The National G-Shock is available at select G-Shock stores Nationwide and is limited to 200 pieces. The National G-Shock will be available starting today for Php 9,995.
