The Under Armour HOVR Phantom is a severely underrated and under-appreciated pair of sneakers/trainers. Most people instinctively go for kicks from adidas or Nike but this new shoe from Under Armour is just packed with so much technology and innovation.
What’s so special about it? It boils down to the HOVR midsole. This is Under Armour’s response to the BOOST of adidas and the REACT of Nike. It’s chemically bonded foam, just like BOOST and REACT, but they wrapped it in what they call “energy web” and encased it in a lightweight EVA carrier. This combination does an excellent job of giving the right amount of bounce and comfort with every stride. It’s literally in the middle of the mushy comfort of the UltraBOOST and the trampoline-like bounce of the Epic REACT.
Apart from the midsole, Under Armour’s Speedform 2.0, which is how they mold the insole with the sock lining, and upper to create a seamless shoe (so your feet rest on top of the cushioning and it molds well with the shape of your feet), is also a game changer for people with flat feet. They added small cushioning pillows which helps a lot with arch support.
