What Makes it Different?
adidas recently announced that they will be offering a special 5th year anniversary edition of the UltraBOOST. If you take a look at the photos of the shoe though you’ll be hard pressed to find anything different or special about it. To fully appreciate this drop, you need to look back at the humble beginnings of the BOOST technology that propelled adidas to where they are today.
The BOOST technology debuted on the adidas Energy Boost. Here’s a photo of the shoe:
The big difference is the colorway. As you can see there are strong yellow accents that run along the midsole and even the word “BOOST” is in yellow. This first generation shoe served as the inspiration for the 5th year anniversary model of the UltraBOOST. The accents of the new model is, yes you guessed it, yellow. It appears on the lace tips, insole, adidas logo on the tongue tab, and even at a certain part of the outsole.
Now apart from that it’s really your typical UltraBoost 4.0 model with a Primeknit upper in black/grey. It’s scheduled to drop on February 1 in limited quantities. If you’re a hardcore BOOST fan, this might be something you’d want. However if you’re just getting into this or if you’re a casual sneaker fan, better to cop something that speaks to you more with regards to the over-all style and color.
