An Isolated and Private Paradise in Boracay Island

I’ve been to Boracay Island around 5 times in my life and none of them were truly memorable. The beaches were always crowded and the vendors non-stop in aggressively hawking their wares. That said I never really looked forward there each time I found out I had to fly for family or work. That changed today. I’m here right now for an overnight stay at the Shangri-la Boracay Luxury Beach Resort to attend a wedding and this is, by far, the best Boracay experience I’ve had.

The moment I landed in Caticlan I felt taken care of and pampered by the Shangri-la staff. It started with the airport pick-up. We were fetched by a separate van which allowed us to avoid looking for a way to get to the jetty. Once we got to the port, we had a private Shangri-la lounge complete with cool wet towels, clean restrooms, and friendly staff.

From there we had our own “speed ferry” that brought us directly to the Shangri-la Boracay Luxury Beach Resort. The boat was spacious, clean, and had friendly crew that even volunteered to take our photos during the trip.

Woohooo

Upon landing at the resort port we were greeted by a welcoming band and attentive staff. Their opening line?

“Welcome to paradise.”

Oh and yes you read that right, we had a friggin’ band welcome us to the Island. The only thing missing was the flower necklace to take it to the next level, hehe.

From the welcome port we got on board buggies to take us to the check-in lobby. The trip also doubled as a welcome tour as the staff warmly and gamely explained to us all the amenities and buildings that we passed during the trip. This was pretty amazing because it showed that the people who designed the resort made sure that the buggy trip from the welcome port to the lobby would allow you to see most of what the resort had to offer.

Happy feet!

I was actually worried that we would have to kill time since we arrived early at around 9AM and the usual check-in time was after noon. That wasn’t a problem though as we were allowed to do early check-in at no cost. Oh, checking-in was so convenient. We didn’t have to line-up at a counter as we were allowed to just sit in the lounge and they had the staff attend to us at our table, complete with a delicious and refreshing welcome drink of fresh dalandan juice.

Staff said some kids would play in the water, lol.

I love the design of the structures!

After checking-in we just chilled, ordered lunch, and relaxed. Getting around the resort wasn’t a problem since we could easily call for a buggy pick-up near where we were staying.

Solana: A Sunset Bar in Boracay in Shangri-la

We didn’t have too much time to go around though as the wedding was scheduled at 2PM. In between the wedding and the reception we were able to watch the beautiful Boracay sunset at the Solana Sunset Bar. We had a fantastic view of the beach, resort, and the sea. Sitting there with the cool sea breeze while sipping a mojito was truly paradise. It was one of those moments that you just want to bottle up and save.

What a view!

Truly paradise

After the sunset, we went back to our room, freshened up, and attended the wedding reception.

Congratulations Erika!

As expected, the food served was amazing. The sirloin steak was easily the best dish, followed by the salmon and the lasagna. You really can’t go wrong with the food in any Shangri-la resort.

This was a Short Trip but Will Definitely Come Back Soon

I don’t want to go, huhu.

As you guys can tell this was a short overnight trip for us. There’s still so much more to do in this resort and I look forward to doing all of that when I come back soon. Shangri-la Boracay is a beautiful haven in an Island that has been overly commercialized. It doesn’t have crazy beach parties but it does offer the most luxurious, pampered, peaceful, and rejuvenating experience ever.

We fly out tomorrow morning (it’s 10:55PM as of this writing) and the Shangri-la staff have already taken care of a wake-up call, breakfast arrangements, the van that will bring us to the port in the morning, the private boat that will bring us to Caticlan, and the van that will send us off to the airport. It’s pampering from the moment you land until you take off.

Thank you Shangri-la Boracay and we look forward to coming back soon!!
