They say that a healthy person should take 10,000 steps a day. Reaching that goal can be incredibly difficult with sore, aching feet. That is why having the right footwear is very important. Our choice of shoes should not only be based on fashion but comfort as well.
The thing is, people walk differently and have unique needs when it comes to footwear. While there are lucky ones with “normal feet”, there are also those who are not aware that they are suffering from conditions such as being flatfooted or having a high arch. The usual symptoms are leg discomfort, fatigue and back pain. Sadly people tend to think that it is caused by “walking too much” when it is actually because of wearing the wrong pair of shoes.
Dr. Kong, a brand that originated in Hong Kong, is all about finding the perfect match between a customer and his or her ideal footwear. Back in 1999, when no other brand was doing it, they provided a free innovative foot examination called “Check & Fit” to determine the most suitable footwear for each customer.
Six years ago, Dr. Kong opened their very first store in the Philippines with the mission “to educate the public and remind them of the importance of foot and spine care.” Now with 21 stores nationwide, their mission remains the same and their brand, stronger than ever.
In celebration of their 6th birthday, guests were invited to their Uptown Mall store in BGC and were encouraged to take the foot assessment test. I tried it out myself and discovered that I was flatfooted. No wonder wearing flat shoes made my back hurt after a while. I was encouraged to get shoes with midsole support so I can walk longer without feeling aches and pains.
Their shoes look pretty good too and have a variety of styles for men, women and kids!
For Dr. Kong, footwear is equivalent to foot care. Reaching 10,000 steps a day shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
