During our Unpacked Hong Kong adventure, I stumbled upon Côte&Ciel bags displayed in an Apple reseller store on the top levels of Windsor House in Causeway Bay (the store across Park Lane Hotel). I’ve actually been a huge fan of the brand when I first found about it in Manila and I’ve been looking for an orange variant for the longest time. Lo and behold, the bags the store had in display in HK was the striking orange one I’ve been on the watch out for! Boom. Credit card. Swipe!
(Côte&Ciel is a Paris-based company that designs and produces goods that balance modern fabrics with architectural shapes to make bags, rucksacks, and sleeves)
The model we got is called the Isar Rucksack Twin Touch Contrast. It’s made from a soft cotton canvass fabric that’s smooth and nice to the touch but is also very durable. It’s primarily a backpack but using the different straps you can actually transform this into messenger or even a weekender bag.
The bag has two major compartments where the outer layer is similar to a gym or a weekender bag. You can expand the compartment using the accent straps on the side and bottom.
The outer compartment is quite roomy and easy carries all my gadgets such as powerbanks, chargers, cables and camera. Plus, I was able to put inside easily a 1.5L drink and some chips for easy storage. As you can see, there’s even more space to put other items– like a light jacket or shoes even.
On the inner compartment, you can put up to a 15” laptop for easy storage, it also has a hidden pocket for small items like documents or money. On the top is a zipper bag for easy access of your wallet, pens and more. The space is big enough to fill two laptops, a tablet and even chargers.
Besides the large capacity of the bag, carrying the bag is also comfortable thanks to its large padding of the back and straps. Even in full capacity, you won’t encounter any sharp objects piercing your skin.
All zippers of the bag are made of extra thick metals sliders and also the chain is hidden for a more minimalist look.
The vibrant orange and yellow accent strap is simply awesome!
The Côte&Ciel Isar Rucksack Twin Touch Contrast series bag is ideal for those who enjoys chucking everything in their bag without making them look like they’re carrying a sack of ugly potatoes.
With vibrant color choices, unique shape and form factor, this transforming backpack is worth your hard-earned cash. Heck, the design alone is worth the investment — plus it will definitely get people’s attention and can be an amazing conversation starter. The Côte&Ciel Isar Rucksack Twin Touch Contras is officially available for $239 ( about Php 11,250) but we were able to get ours for around Ph p10,000 at In-Smart at Windsor House Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Next time you guys happen to drop by HK, swing by and check this innovative bag for yourselves. 🙂
